If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito. You don’t have to be greatly skilled or have it all figured out because God chooses ordinary people to do extraordinary things so He gets all the glory. You were not created to remain indolent. You are created to make meaningful and unquestionable mark on earth. However, you can’t be outstanding unless you stand out and to be different, you must do something different because life is all about impact-making; you are to make your life count!
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. Everyone wants their life to count. We all wish we could make a difference in this hurting world. The good news is that we can. You don’t have to wait until you’re more accomplished before God can use you. He can, and will, use you right where you are if you surrender yourself to His will. It could be something as simple as a conversation or an act of kindness. Or He may ask you do something big and scary to speak up or to go first. Whatever it is, if you make yourself available to God, he will make your life count because we bring a deeper commitment to our happiness when we fully understand, that our time left is limited and we really need to make it count.
As I’m so often reminded what a priceless gift my life is, I ache with everything in me to make it count, so that when I finally cross the finish line, I’ll hear the words, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant’. We love God and make Him know by serving others. Service is the pathway to joy and fulfilment. If you aren’t involved in something greater than yourself, you are just putting in time because life is meant for ministry to others. God wants you to make a difference in this world. God wants to work through you. Live life, then with a due sense of responsibility, not as men who do not know the meaning and purpose of life but as those who do. Make the best use of your time, despite all the difficulties of these days. Don’t be vague but firmly grasp what you know to be the will of God. Make it about others and not yourself. We are all born with glasses turned backward. We see ourselves as the center of the universe. But making your life count means to flip the glasses and put others first. Someone once said, the value of a man’s life is in the counting of his positive influence on others. After all, you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
When a trial comes upon us, we
tend to think, “Why me? What have I done wrong?” We may have done
nothing wrong. Trials are necessary for growth. No matter what storm you face,
you need to know that God loves you. He has not abandoned you.
The purpose of trials is not to
make our life difficult and sad. God gives us tailor-made situations so that we
can see the sin which dwells within us – so that we can acknowledge the truth
and become happy and free. Trials reveal how we are by nature. We are able to
see, for example, that we place demands on others, or that we are unthankful or
impatient. But being able to see our own nature is God’s great grace. It is
light from heaven that makes things clear for us. In this way, we can partake
of divine nature in this specific situation. Trials should not surprise
us, or cause us to doubt God’s faithfulness. Rather, we should actually be glad
for them. God sends trials to strengthen our trust in him so that our faith
will not fail. Our trials keep us trusting; they burn away our self-confidence
and drive us to God.
When it seems as if God is far
away, remind yourself that He is near. Nearness is not a matter of geography.
God is everywhere. With any trial, you wonder why. You evaluate your actions,
your mistakes, your sins. You repent, fast and pray. You cry out to God with
more emotion than you knew you possessed. If you are normal, you have moments
of anger, perhaps even doubt. Here is where we can produce fruit or destroy it.
With God’s help, we must forcibly evict these carnal thoughts from our minds.
We cannot allow seeds of doubt to germinate, and if they do, they cannot be
allowed to grow. We must look forward and deal with the situation. No sane
person sits around, wishing he had a trial. That is absurd. No one is ecstatic
to find himself encompassed in pain. Only when you have faced your troubles and
started to fight can you begin to see even a glimmer of a positive result at
Count it all joy, my brothers,
when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your
faith produces steadfastness. Not only is there a cause for every problem, but
there are also solutions to most. God can show us how to resolve them without
compromising on what is right. We need to go to Him for those answers. God, who
gives us life and all the things that make life enjoyable, is not indifferent
to our sufferings. He has great plans for us in the future. He is moulding us
to become His children for all eternity. In order for that to happen, changes
must take place in our character. We have to become like Him. That process
includes trials and testing. With God help, we can place the outcome of the
trial in God’s hands and in confidence know that in some way good can come to
us if we stay true to His ways.
When you are presented with a clear path toward a goal you would not have chosen for yourself, it’s important to check your motives. Achieving success in life isn’t just about intelligence, competence or experience. The key to beating your competition and succeeding is the ‘winning attitude.’
In every moment we can pick a new direction – how to act, how to react, how others’ moods, as well as how these decisions will affect you and how you will affect others. These choices are not made only once but every moment of every day. These decisions mould and sculpt your experiences and actions in the moment and eventually your day and life. When things happen that are not to your liking you can either allow them to bring you down or choose to find the opportunities in them. Your initial decision is what matters. Your choice to “do it” screams messages of hope and belief in yourself. Don’t get me wrong, not having things turn out the way you hoped totally stinks! But don’t let that beat you down and keep you there. Remember that your effort to make it happen is the most important part. Your time on this planet is very short. The more you put on your plate, the faster your time will go. The less time you’ll have for those things which matter most because a lot of people don’t do well simply because they major in minor things.
If you lack a clear and compelling vision, you will frequently be swayed by lesser goals. In such a case, you’ll be driven by achievement and/or external validation. Hence, there is an enormous difference between true success and achievement. Success is how you feel about yourself, and can only comes from living in alignment with who you truly want to be. Achievement is an external indicator of something you’ve done, which in itself doesn’t qualify you for success. You can only be successful spending as little time as possible on things you hate. It’s all about the right attitude. When life presents its numerous challenges, you begin to lose faith in your abilities. It is then that positive attitude helps you navigate all the difficulties and face the challenges boldly. It makes you better equipped to overcome the odds and puts you back on the road to success. Nothing happens unless you choose to act now. Change happens in the moment, not over time. The effect of what we choose, of the changes we have made, happen over time and we get to choose again and again in the moment.
The fact that with God ‘all things are possible’ is proven by the fact that God created the entire universe out of nothing. There is more than one thing that God cannot do and that is that God cannot lie!
Do you sometimes find yourself facing a seemingly impossible situation? It might be a relationship that seems to have broken down irretrievably, or an issue to do with health, finances or something else where change seems impossible. With God there is always hope, no matter how bad things look. Nothing is impossible with God. His power makes all things possible. We know that for every effect there has to be a cause but there does not have to be an effect for every cause because God is uncaused. So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable. Impossible only means that you haven’t found the solution yet. In our lives we will have times that will test our faith. We have times that will make us feel that nothing is going right and there seems to be no end in sight. However, things have a way of working out and having faith, belief and a focused positive attitude will allow you to get through those tough times. With God’s help you will get through.
What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are and we would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible. The limits of the possible can only be defined by going beyond them into the impossible and there is nothing impossible to him who will try. We need to also understand that most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Whatever struggles you are facing at the moment, however difficult life looks, however impossible the situation seems, it is important to remember his love for you and trust that ‘with God all things are possible’.
Each person’s success and happiness, both now and in the eternities, depend largely on his or her responses to the difficulties of life. Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved. Be strong, believe in who you are; be strong, believe in what you feel.
If God sends us on strong paths, we are provided strong shoes. Going through and overcoming adversity is character building, it is one of the aspects of life that shapes us into the human being we are today, and will be in the future. It provides us with experience, the confidence to overcome, opportunities and a kind of coping mechanism to deal with things that don’t go our way, which in life, is inevitable. Adversity comes from different sources. Trials may come as a consequence of a person’s own pride and disobedience. But sometimes we think holding on makes us strong but sometimes it is letting go. To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.
Build upon strengths, and weaknesses will gradually take care of themselves. When some people face adversity, they complain and become bitter. They ask questions like “Why does this have to happen to me? Why do I have to suffer this now? What have I done to deserve this?” But these questions have the power to dominate their thoughts. Such questions can overtake their vision, absorb their energy, and deprive them of the experiences the Lord wants them to receive. Rather than responding in this way, people should consider asking questions such as, “What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial?”The depth and strength of a human character are defined by its moral reserves. People reveal themselves completely only when they are thrown out of the customary conditions of their life, for only then do they have to fall back on their reserves. We need to remember always that change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.
Triumph is just “umph” added to try. The music of hope is everywhere, but to hear it, you need to ignore the muddy jangle of life’s hassles. Don’t let mental blocks control you. Set yourself free. Confront your fear and turn the mental blocks into building blocks.
Somewhere in the world there is a defeat for everyone. Some are destroyed by defeat, and some made small and mean by victory. Greatness lives in one who triumphs equally over defeat and victory. Living life with from the perspective of a victorious spirit means being willing to repeat the grueling process of overcoming time and time again. In life when we refuse to overcome what is in front of us, we provide a path for failure to overcome and eventually embody our being.
Have patience with all things but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You are perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist. And no amount of triumphs or tribulations can ever change that. Keep fighting. Fight to become who you know you can be, and to make the world a better place by the time you leave it. Be the person that stands up ceaselessly for what is right and what is truly just.
No matter what happens to you, you do not have to be bitter. You deserve to be happy. Persevere in the name of love and keep your focus on spreading love wherever you can. If you do these things trust in the truth that all of your hard work will pay off in the end. Be the hero that your heart tells you to be and with this resilience you will move mountains. You don’t just rise to the top. There are times of preparation and many mountains to conquer for the ultimate triumph to the top. May you find the grace of triumph over any situation.
The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering. One day, your heart will stop beating, and none of your fears will matter. What will matter is how you lived.
Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else. To live a great life we have to be willing to overcome our fears. We all encounter fear on a daily basis. The major difference between the movers and shakers, and the people who remain stagnant throughout their lives is their willingness to face their fears on a regular basis. What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
Since we are presented with challenges pretty regularly, we have to the vision to see that these challenges are just fear disguised as obstacles. Often times we lose sight on the places that we truly desire to be and the person we know we are destined to become, because we fear not knowing what is to come after we face these obstacles. What will matter are not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
How will you live your life? How will you remember it? Personally I’d rather live a challenging and colorful life. Something worthy and so memorable that you know you lived it fully. Use your vision to give focus on becoming who you want to become, not on the challenges that lie in the way. It will be a bumpy ride, but with strong belief and lots of hard work you will get there.
Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path, and you will find you have crossed the mountain.
Everyone loves the feeling of securing a huge victory but so many of us look over the fact that accomplishing the greatest feats means we have to win the small battles first. All things are difficult before they are easy. You are making progress if each mistake is a new one.
It’s kind of fun to do the impossible. If you examine all of the biggest characters in history, you will realize that though they may be known for one thing, or a few things even, in every single case of greatness, there are many small challenges that don’t get talked about. It is in these small victories that the greatest people of all time became the conquerors and winners that we still read about and talk about today.
Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision. Never let the small things in life trip you up and keep you from overcoming the huge mountains in life. Look towards your little faults and fix those; slowly you’ll find that you eroded your bigger problems away without knowing it. To win all you have to do is get up one more time than you fall.
Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use. Be great by continuing to stand in the midst of adversity. And remember to keep moving forward once you gather yourself from falling. Never quit!
When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny because there are two ways of meeting difficulties. You alter the difficulties or you alter yourself to meet them.
The feeling of being a failure isn’t a great one. When we stand in front of treacherous mountains we often convince ourselves that we have failed just because of the size of the challenge that is in our immediate future.
Instead of letting fear dominate us, and stop us from at least attempting to overcome the hefty tests that lie in wake, we have to be willing to face these challenges head on. Don’t give up! It’s not over. The universe is balanced. Every set-back bears with it the seeds of a come-back.
This means that we must be willing to move forward in every way possible. Even if this means we will be forced to count all of the small victories before we can even come close to fighting for the colossal victories. Always remember that in life you will face your greatest opposition when you are closest to your biggest miracle.
Use a patient, and humble resolve to tackle life. Believe in who you are, and where you are going. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. Live strong you are more than a conqueror!
Every human walks around with a certain kind of sadness. They may not wear it on their sleeves, but it’s there if you look deep. Life is ironic it takes sadness to know what happiness is. Noise to appreciate silence. Absence to value presence.
In life and all of it’s business we have to take time out to be appreciative for it, and for all that it entails. We may not be the healthiest, but we have enough health to live, we may not be the wealthiest but we have enough wealth to live, these are things we should be grateful for, because some people that were here yesterday are gone today because of the lacking of one of these two things.
Sometimes we make life more difficult than it really is, and instead of being appreciative for who we really are, and what we are capable of becoming, we let life and its circumstances get us down instead.
Take some time out each day to reflect upon your performance for that day, the application of your mind, and the plans and goals you may have for tomorrow. Doing so will help unleash your full potential.
