Cultivating Dependence on God’s Strength

Trusting God doesn’t come easy. We can’t see, touch, or hear His voice, at least not in the same way we do the humans in our life. Sometimes we put our trust in objects and other times we put our trust in man. But the reality is, God alone sustains us! We are to rely on HIM for all of our needs. To rely is to depend on with full trust or confidence.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take. Don’t ask God to guide your steps if you’re not willing to move your feet and God will not permit any troubles to come upon us, unless He has a specific plan by which great blessing can come out of the difficulty because the beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety. We all lean on our own understanding; we all depend on our own strength; we fail to acknowledge him, which is why we get so confused and start to question things; and we don’t trust in the Lord, but we trust in ourselves. Before doing anything, we need to try this: pray before you do anything. Lift God up, and really believe it. Don’t just say it and know that you’re still going to rely on yourself, but truly believe that you didn’t do any of this: God did this.

Dependence is something that has to be relearned on a regular basis because the blessings of a God-dependent life are many. Living every day as if our every breath came from the Lord causes the believer to rest under the good hand of God. I have learned that faith means trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Genuine faith is relying on God’s direction and on who he is. God is reliable. He knows what you need, and he wants to meet those needs. Unfortunately, we think we know better. We think we have a better plan. We want to use our logic and get to the answer in a way that makes us look good and doesn’t require risk. But God wants us to grow, so he takes us a different way. Faith is the vision of the heart; it sees God in the dark as well as in the day and you’ll never know that God is all you need until God is all you’ve got.

Be Strong, Believe In Who You Are…

Each person’s success and happiness, both now and in the eternities, depend largely on his or her responses to the difficulties of life. Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved. Be strong, believe in who you are; be strong, believe in what you feel.

perseverance

If God sends us on strong paths, we are provided strong shoes. Going through and overcoming adversity is character building, it is one of the aspects of life that shapes us into the human being we are today, and will be in the future. It provides us with experience, the confidence to overcome, opportunities and a kind of coping mechanism to deal with things that don’t go our way, which in life, is inevitable. Adversity comes from different sources. Trials may come as a consequence of a person’s own pride and disobedience. But sometimes we think holding on makes us strong but sometimes it is letting go. To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

Build upon strengths, and weaknesses will gradually take care of themselves. When some people face adversity, they complain and become bitter. They ask questions like “Why does this have to happen to me? Why do I have to suffer this now? What have I done to deserve this?” But these questions have the power to dominate their thoughts. Such questions can overtake their vision, absorb their energy, and deprive them of the experiences the Lord wants them to receive. Rather than responding in this way, people should consider asking questions such as, “What am I to do? What am I to learn from this experience? What am I to change? Whom am I to help? How can I remember my many blessings in times of trial?”The depth and strength of a human character are defined by its moral reserves. People reveal themselves completely only when they are thrown out of the customary conditions of their life, for only then do they have to fall back on their reserves. We need to remember always that change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.

Worry Is Worthless! God Takes Care of You

Worrying is worthless! You probably know that already, but the question is, have you stopped worrying? What is it that right now you are worrying about? I’m reminding you and me of how useless and worthless it is to worry. So, whatever you are worrying about at this moment is a total waste of time. Casting all your anxieties on God, because he cares for you.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds. There is an underlying assumption by those who worry that they have at least some level of control over their circumstances which, in reality, only God has ultimate control over. There is something inside of them that knows that they are not in control and that they cannot control all that happens in their lives, but they sure want to be able to be in total control. They want to know, fully understand, and control all that is going on, that has gone on, and that will go on. They effectively want to usurp God’s position as sovereign, all-powerful, and all-knowing. It is not that they are seeking to replace God, for even this would worry them. But it is that they are struggling to abandon themselves and those whom they care about to God’s control. God is in control, and He does care.  But those who worry struggle to believe that and appropriate it. Those who worry tend to mistrust God and have an overly-inflated view of their own ability to make their lives what they want them to be.

The promise of God is that He will not allow His children to beg for bread. He will care for our needs and that’s the promise you can claim. To surrender to God does not mean that we submit to fate as if we have no responsibility or choices to make in life. Many times our own difficulties are a result of our own making and irresponsible behavior. Nothing happens to us that is outside of God’s permissive will, and he is totally in control of our days.  And because of who we are, we should not worry. Do you know how much energy it takes to worry?  You are spending lots of emotional and mental energy when you’re in worry mode and has it ever done you one bit of good?  No, of course not.  Worrying is worthless!  That’s a really good reason for any sensible person to just refuse to worry. So we must not worsen matters by not doing what God has already instructed us to do. We are not helpless beings, and we do have a will and a responsibility to act.

The road to freedom from worry is to trust God, to rest in His love, and to truly believe that He is able and that we are not. Will we let God take the controls of our lives today, knowing and believing that He can do it better than we can? If you are a real worrier, you can be sure people know it, because you talk about it, it shows on your face and body language, and it’s not particularly attractive. Remember, worrying is worthless, a total waste of your time, and it indicates you need to stop and check out why your worrying instead of trusting the Sovereign God, who is your Heavenly Father.

Being Happy Depends On Your Choice

We all want to be happy. But for many of us, happiness is an elusive, fleeting state that we can capture only for a brief moment, before it floats away like dust in the wind. Being happy depends on your choice. Your circumstances may affect it but still the choice is yours if you let other things affect your happiness.

timemoneyHappiness. It is not measurable, profitable, nor tradable. Yet, above all else in the world, it is what people seek. They want to have happiness, and want to know they have a lot of it. But happiness, like air or water, is a hard thing to grasp in one’s hand. It is intangible. So how does one know if they have it? Is it just a feeling? And if someone does not feel happy, how can they go about achieving that feeling? Yes, Happiness is a choice, we have got the choice on how we want to live our life. There is only one cause of unhappiness: the false beliefs you have in your head, beliefs so widespread, so commonly held, that it never occurs to you to question them.

All seasons are beautiful for the person who carries happiness within. It doesn’t really matter the circumstances in our life, we have still got the choice to live an unhappy life, at the mercy of our emotions, events etc., which could be quite miserable sometimes, or we can choose to live a happy life, be a happy person, whatever the circumstances are, the choice is ours. Happiness is not measured by material wealth. A new car or television, a new house does not equate to joyful feelings. They are status symbols, surely, and ones that make others assume a person is happy, but they do not guarantee a happy life. The clichéd phrase, “money can’t buy happiness,” is heard often… because it is true. People who have wealth can be unhappy, just as the poor can be living on cloud nine. Possessions can be gained and lost, and with that comes fear. And fear rarely leads to happiness.

Happiness lies in living a plain life within one’s own means. If you follow the dictum ‘cut you coat according to your cloth’ and live within your own means, you will not need to trouble your head to get a loan of money or to pay back loan. Besides, you will not be a parasite or a dependant on others and your free mind will bring you immense happiness. Happiness lies not only in the life of plain living but also in the life of high thinking. So, a saying goes on ‘plain living and high thinking’. If you live a life of high thinking the trifling worldly troubles will not disturb your mind. The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy. Happiness is a conscious choice, not an automatic response. Be happy. It’s one way of being wise because happiness may come and go like the seasons but in the end, every moment that you have that is filled with happiness will be well worth the sad or unnerving ones that you have had to endure.
